At your FREE consultation we will conduct a visual assessment of your smile, discuss the results you would like to achieve and what type of orthodontic treatment you are interested in/we recommend to suit your lifestyle and to achieve the desired results.

This consultation is designed to be an informal chat. A chance for us to help answer any questions you might have with regards to the braces, what’s included in your treatment, finance and anything else you might want to know.

Before we can provide you with a full treatment plan and associated costs confirmation, we complete a thorough SmartDontics Smile Analysis.

What does this entail?

We use the best technology available to look at not only your teeth but the overall picture of your dental health so we can make sure that your treatment plan is both suitable and comprehensive. We understand that orthodontic treatment can be a big commitment, so we want to get it right.

These include:

• iCAT FLX Machine – for accurate 3D data:
  Using the iCAT FLX technology means we have accurate 3D information on data for TMJ treatment, diagnosis of sleep apnoea and comprehensive images of your face and jaw not just your teeth. An additional benefit of this type of scan is that it can highlight any airway issues. If you find that you might snore at night or have some trouble breathing, then correctly aligning your smile with orthodontics can help with these issues too.
• A CBCT Scan is generated – with full reporting:
  This allows us to look all the way around each tooth, inside and outside including bone levels. This can highlight any issues that we might have when we move the position of each tooth. To our knowledge no other orthodontist in the UK completes this process but we do it to make sure that we fully understand each tooth, your dental health and your smile limitations. Our technology means that we are able to carry out a more detailed analysis of your teeth and surrounding soft tissues with a lower dosage in a safe way.
• iTero Scan – with predictive results:
  Using cutting edge iTero scanning technology we can diagnose and plan treatments with increased accuracy. This provides a better experience for you. No messy impressions and long waiting times. The iTero Scanner uses a small handheld wand to take thousands of images of your smile in a matter of seconds. With this digital model, Dr Darsh can show you what your smile will look like when treatment is complete and available options.

Based on the information we obtain from this thorough SmartDontics Smile Analysis Dr Darsh will then prepare your comprehensive treatment plan.

Please note that whilst there is a fee for completing the SmartDontics Smile Analysis, that payment is deducted from the overall cost of your treatment if you decide to proceed.

Each patient’s smile is like a fingerprint. It is totally unique. Which is why Dr Darsh Patel may use a combination of treatments in his recommendations for you.

Using the state-of-the-art technology and the detailed reporting available from the SmartDontics Smile Analysis he will personally prepare a tailored, comprehensive treatment plan that clearly outlines the risks and benefits.

If we are all happy after you have read through the treatment plan, fully understood your options and agreed a payment plan then we will complete the consent process. We have finance options available which can help spread the cost of treatment if required. Our team are always on hand to talk through the treatment plan and any questions that you may have.

The big day has arrived! It’s time to start treatment!

Depending on the treatment option you have decided to go with this might be a little different. You will either be collecting your first set of removable aligners, or you will be having your fixed braces fitted.

Regardless of treatment the process is the same and Dr Darsh Patel, even though you may not meet him today, is with you every step of the way with the Dental Monitoring App and Scanner box will be provided.

How does Dental Monitoring work?

• First, we will ask you to download the Digital Monitoring app to your iOS or Android smartphone.
• Next, we will show you how to follow the instructions in the app to take regular photos of your smile for Dr Darsh to monitor your treatment.
• Then, Dr Darsh will be making regular checks to make sure your progress matches up with your treatment plan.

The best thing about using Dental Monitoring is that if everything is progressing as planned, we won’t need to schedule unnecessary appointments for you at the practice. You can continue your treatment from wherever you are! Meaning no lost time at work or school.

Through the dental Monitoring app, you will also receive messages about your treatment. This will include when to change aligners or when to book an appointment to come into the practice, this may be for an adjustment, a new scan for more aligners or for a hygiene appointment.

Depending on the type of treatment that you have we may also supply you with an accelerating treatment device (VPRO+).

What is the VPRO+?

The VPro+ is a clinically proven way to speed up orthodontic treatment which uses high frequency vibrations. The hands-free device encourages your teeth and jaw to move into proper alignment. The VPro+ is easy and comfortable to use. You simply bite down gently on the device while wearing your aligners. There is no need to bite or clench any harder than as needed to support the device. The VPro+ will slowly ramp up to full vibration and will automatically shut off after just 5 minutes. Easy!

Where is Dr Darsh?

So, a lot of patients at this point may not have even met Dr Darsh Patel!
Don’t worry, he is real, and you will get to meet him soon if you have not done so yet. He’s just very busy behind the scenes making sure everyone’s smile is on track for the big reveal. He is always busy working on analysing, monitoring and planning for every patient at our practice.

You will even notice messages coming through on Dental Monitoring from him when he checks in on your smile.

He is the conductor behind the scenes and personally approves every decision carried out by our team.

Time to reveal your straight smile!

Dr Darsh will meet with you to check your new smile and explain how to look after it.

A lot of patients decide that this is a good place to conclude their treatment. They have achieved the beautiful smile they always dreamed of. Perfect, they can skip straight on to Step 7.

Others may want some signature finishes.

Most of our patients are happy with their smile when they have finished their orthodontic treatment but others want a little more.

We can provide our SmartDontics Signature Finishes to complete the smile you’ve always wanted. This may mean making your smile a little brighter with tooth whitening treatment, Blanc One.

Or closing those little lines or gaps that have opened up when we straightened each tooth. We try not to use cosmetic bonding to achieve these finishes but our own finessed techniques.

Your Smartdontics Signature Finish options will be discussed and agreed with Dr Darsh to achieve your optimal smile.
